I have 25 years of experience working in Special Education, in which I hold a Master's degree. I have taught in both New York State, Connecticut and New Kent County. Elementary Math

25 years experience teaching elementary math as a SPED teacher. VA "highly qualified" to teach elementary math. Trained in the "Voyagers" mathematics program. Experienced one-on-one tutor using manipualtives, games, concepts to excite students to believe that math is fun! (and that they can be successful!)

I have 45+ hours of training in the Orton-Gillingham method of teaching reading. This is phonemically based appraod to reading. I also have taught reading on an individual and small group basis.

Study Skills

Most of my 25 years as a special education teacher have been in the capacity of school resource room teacher. I have taught study skills in this capacity to all grade levels.

Special Needs

I hold a MS in Teaching the Mentally Handicapped. I have 25 years experience teaching special education including self-contained multi-handicapped, autistic, visually impaired, emotional disturbed and ADHD students. I have experience with ABA programming with autistic youngsters. I have worked as a consultant to teachers in working with special needs children in the classroom.


I hold a Master's degree in Special Education. I have 25 years experience teaching children with reading disabilities. I have over 100 hours of training in the Orton-Gillingham method of teaching reading. I have formal training in and have used PAF (Preventing Academic Failure), the Wilson Reading program, Slingerland, and Stevenson reading systems. I have many years of experience in working with dyslexic students on a one-to-one basis both as a resource teacher and a private tutor.
