The ACT Reading has always been a point of interest for me insofar as it is a locus of an intersection between subjective textual interpretation and objective standardized testing. My best performing ACT pupil scored a Composite score of 33 (99th percentile). And, my best improved ACT pupil increased his Composite score from a 27 (87th percentile) to a 31 (97th percentile).


ACT English

My best scoring ACT English pupil scored a 35 (99th percentile). And, my best improved ACT English pupil increased his score from a 20 (50th percentile) to a 29 (90th percentile) after about seven lessons, which did not focus exclusively on the English component. Despite that the ACT English test is a grammar test, insofar as the test remains to be an English test nonetheless, the multiple-choice format of the exam, which presumes a universality in answers, presents a complication in the context of English as not having universal answers for the questions it asks. My best performing ACT pupil scored a Composite score of 33 (99th percentile). And, my best improved ACT pupil increased his Composite score from a 27 (87th percentile) to a 31 (97th percentile).


ACT Math

My best performing ACT Math pupil scored a 35 (99th percentile) on the ACT Math. The ACT Math, unlike the SAT Math, is a curriculum-based examination, and, as such, appears to be very much like other mathematics examinations administered at school. In this context, the ACT Math is straightforward and familiar. My best performing ACT pupil scored a Composite score of 33 (99th percentile). And, my best improved ACT pupil increased his Composite score from a 27 (87th percentile) to a 31 (97th percentile).


ACT Science

I especially enjoy teaching the ACT Science section as it is unlike any other subject I have studied, both in high school and college. Also, it is critical to recognize that the ACT Science test seems to be more like a logic test that just so happens to operate open scientific charts and graphs insofar as there is no prerequisite scientific knowledge required for it. My best performing ACT pupil scored a Composite score of 33 (99th percentile). And, my best improved ACT pupil increased his Composite score from a 27 (87th percentile) to a 31 (97th percentile).


Elementary Math

I am a former Mathematics teacher at two elementary schools in the Inglewood Unified School District of California via AMERICORPS. AmeriCorps is a voluntary civil society program supported by the U.S. federal government, foundations, corporations, and other donors engaging adults in public service work with a goal of "helping others and meeting critical needs in the community." I have studied mathematics from arithmetic through single-variable calculus during my time as a student. The next morning, she received an email from the University of Alabama notifying her that she had been admitted as an undergraduate student to the university for the next Fall term!


ADHD

I have previously worked with students with ADHD, and am aware of the differences in circumstances in such contexts. The following is a listing of my accomplishments with the ISEE examination: (1) My best scoring ISEE Quantitative pupil scored a 924 (99th percentile); (2) My best scoring ISEE Mathematics pupil scored a 923 (97th percentile); (3) My best scoring ISEE Reading pupil scored a 912 (93rd percentile). I am formerly a reader/rater of the SAT standardized examination. I am presently a reader/rater of the California Assessment Science Test (CAST) and the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR). The SAT, CAST, and STAAR are highly regarded national standardized examinations, like the ISEE.


Logic

I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of California, Los Angeles. I completed two lower-division philosophy courses in Logic as an undergraduate, one of which is now an upper-division philosophy course in the philosophy department at UCLA. These Logic courses were instructed by a world-renowned logician in the Philosophy department at UCLA by the name of David Kaplan, via a software program he authored, Logic 2000.


Marketing

I am a former marketing professional with over 15 years of sales and marketing experience. I am a former Marketing Specialist with Perpetual Care Services, LLC. I earned an enormous amount of practical marketing knowledge in the course of my employment with this company. My responsibilities in this position were as follows. I coordinated public relations, creative, promotions, and advertising. I developed new programs and initiatives designed to advance the company?s mission. I ensured the company's message was distributed across channels to targeted audiences in order to meet sales objectives, employing both online marketing techniques and direct marketing techniques. I determined target markets to expand audience base, and decided how to reach target market by the use of direct mailings. I planned, directed, and coordinated marketing budgets in accordance to organizational goals. I demonstrated success supervising and maintaining marketing plans, programs, and initiatives that constituted strategic assets to the company and its clients. I reviewed and approved marketing strategies, including having designed telemarketing scripts. I provided feedback to the marketing support team on a consistent basis. I reviewed and approved marketing materials, including having designed the layout and content of brochures and supplemental literature. I attended marketing events in order to interact with the public and respond to minor problems and/or questions. I generated revenue by increasing sales through successful marketing, including telemarketing.


Sociology

I have completed an undergraduate course in Sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles titled "Introduction to Sociology". I was also selected to attend a Sociology conference at the University of California, Irvine in 1997 named KSR or "The Knowledge and Social Responsibility Program", which was organized by the National Foundation. At the conference, I was selected to be the keynote speaker in lieu of my heavy contributions to discussions and activities pertaining to the sociological topics, like capital punishment, race, media, etc. I subsequently made the cover of the Accent section of the Orange County Register because of my accomplishments at the conference.


Speech

I am trained in basic communications principles, including the fundamentals of speech. I have been writing and delivering speeches for 15 years, ranging from keynote addresses at social justice conferences to keynote addresses to mentally disabled individuals, some of whom are confined to a mental hospital. I also used to work in marketing, and found myself employing principles of speech in actual practice during the times I was telemarketing to prospective clients with whom I had never communicated.


Fitness

I exercise for recreation and physical self-development. As a high school student, I was on the high school cross country, volleyball, and basketball teams. In the course of the practices I was required to attend as a member of these three sports teams, I completed various physical exercises designed to develop my ability in each respective sport and my physical fitness in general. I also played on an intramurals football team at UCLA, where I was required to maintain a certain level of physical fitness to remain competitive.


Classics

A former Classical Civilizations major at the University of California Los Angeles, I completed a total of 68 lower-division and upper-division quarter units in the Classical Civilizations major, just 3 classes shy of earning a baccalaureate degree in Classical Civilizations, before switching my major to Philosophy, the subject in which I would go on to earn by baccalaureate degree. As a Classical Civilizations major, I completed coursework in Latin, Ancient Greek, Ancient History, and Classical Literature. I was also cast in the Classics Department's undergraduate production of the play Auricula Meretricula, where I played the role of the Miles Gloriosus, or the Braggart Soldier.


IELTS

I have five years ESL/ESOL Teaching experience at the South Coast Literacy Council, an all-volunteer organization established in 1970 offering free ESL classes every week at various locations throughout south Orange County, California. Additionally, I have completed coursework for a Teaching English as a Second Language certificate from the University of California, Irvine-Extension. I am a recipient of the "English as a Second Language, 2+ Years Teaching Award" from the South Coast Literacy Council.


Political Science

I have completed a college course on American government with the highest mark. I have also completed a certificate in political philosophy from Harvard University via its edX program. I completed courses in political philosophy as a philosophy student at the University of California, Los Angeles. I was formerly active as a political telemarketer for the Republican Party of the United States of America.


STAAR

I am an official STAAR Rater for the College Board/Educational Testing Service. In this context, I am uniquely qualified to prepare your child for this major standardized examination insofar as I am affiliated with the examination in an official capacity. I am previously an official SAT Rater for the College Board/Educational Testing Service, and am also presently an official California Assessment Science Test (CAST) Rater for the College Board/Educational Testing Service.


Homeschool

I have previously worked with homeschool students, especially with respect to standardized examination preparation. I create personalized academic plans for homeschool students to maximize the effectiveness of each and every lesson in the short term and the long term. Homeschool students especially interest me as I feel that I can leverage the wider latitude of time they have compared to traditionally schooled students to develop a holistic academic plan that will benefit them whether they ultimately decide to pursue a career path in the arts or the sciences.
