I believe that math is fun. One of the great difficulties many students face is the self fulfilling prophecy that I have always been poor at math and I will always be poor at math. The key to success is for the student to believe that they can become better at math. Therefore I have the student experience earned success in order to achieve some confidence. Constant failure is discouraging. I have taught for three years at the middle school level. I also have experience teaching ACT math... [more]
I have 3 years experience teaching algebra I. I believe math is fun and that the biggest impediment to students doing well in math is the self-fulfilling prophecy that "I am lousy at math and I will always be lousy at math." The key for student improvement is earned success. My rates are low because I believe every student should have access to a tutor regardless of their family's income.
I have tutored algebra 2 to students at a major tutoring firm. I believe that math is fun. The reason many students struggle in math is that they have not experienced earned success.
I love geometry because it involves reasoning more than just straight calculation. The key to learning geometry is for the student to solve problems by finding the information that is implied in the problem. This involves applying the knowledge that we already know such as what are supplementary angles.
I have taught middle school math for 3 years. I believe that math is fun. One of the biggest obstacles to math profiency is that students have the idea that I am lousy in math and will always be lousy in math. My goal is for the students to experience earned success so that math becomes enjoyable. I was named teacher of the year by the 8th grade students that I taught at a parochial school. Additionally, I am still taking math courses at the College of Lake County and can empathize with students when it comes to test anxiety.
I have been tutoring precalculus for over 3 years and have experience teaching home schoolers pre calc.
I believe math is fun. Trigonometry is one of my favorite parts of math. Over the last 4 years I have taken 20 credits in advanced math and trig has been a large part of the courses. I have also tutored ACT for a large company and am aware of the requirements for trig on the ACT.
I have experience tutoring students for ACT and SAT with a national company. I use the Barron's book for the national tests. In my opinion it is the most difficult and if a student does well with Barron's then the regular test should be much easier. I believe that math is fun and that overcoming many students' phobia about math is the key to success. Students need earned success in order to start approaching math in a positive and confident manner. My rates are low because I believe every student should have access to a tutor regardless of income.
I have experience tutoring ACT math for a major tutoring company. I use the Barron's book which works well.
