I have a degree in American Studies. I taught English and history and enjoyed helping students gain comfort and confidence in the writing process. I have worked with students through literature, history, and sociology courses at the high school and college level.
I have over 7 years' experience helping students develop study skills that work for them. In addition to my extensive experience working one-on-one with people, I have also been a classroom teacher where I also focused on study skill habits, preparing middle school students to transition to the demands of high school. All of my former students remark how invaluable the study skills are that I taught them. I have a variety of techniques and methods in my arsenal depending on the type of learner. Test preparation, note taking, and long-term assignment planning are all critical parts of this work.
I am a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) through the Coaches Training Institute, the gold standard of professional coaching organizations. This was a rigorous training to help people in terms of career and life development. I work with people to identify goals and I have been trained to help people determine important decisions related to career, work, further education and professional pursuits. In this realm, I coach people of all ages related to career.
I graduated from Wesleyan University with High Honors, Phi Beta Kappa. My major was American Studies, which is an interdisciplinary major related to history, English, and sociology. I took many sociology courses in order to fulfill the course requirements.
I taught 6th and 8th grade social studies at an private independent day school for three years. I developed my own curriculum that continues to be used today. I graduated with high honors, Phi Beta Kappa from Wesleyan University and I majored in American Studies. I continue to help students one-on-one to develop skills to learn social studies concepts, geography, and current events. I love teaching social studies and helping students to engage in history and the world around them.
