SAT Reading

Superior English SAT/Grammar, U.S. and UK English, professional private teacher (earned only 5-star ratings from all Wyzant students). PROMOTIONAL FEES FOR SAT/READING-IMMERSION PROGRAMS! I have been training SAT students for the past 20 years, each time receiving excellent results due to my method that combines ordinary SAT training with immersion and very useful philological/linguistics tips. Thus the student learns in-depth grammatical structures and vocabulary along with practicing regular SAT-book exercises. My multilingual upbringing and experience in English as well as three Latin languages, along with many years of formal training at the best schools in the U.S. and Europe, have allowed me to acquire an articulate intellectual American-English level that receives praises on a daily basis. SAT Reading is one of the most difficult test subjects, and I have promoted my students by training them based on manuals, as well as classical and contemporary literature, to help them understand text approaches and employ sophisticated vocabulary. Choosing the most challenging materials and stimulating the student's ability to comprehend diverse texts are also important aspects in SAT Reading, and for that purpose I use relevant materials from SAT books and challenging sources (media, literature, TV, etc). SAT Writing

I have been tutoring English SAT Writing to students since 2009. I am a European tutor trained in British English, and I have been living in the United States (as a U.S. citizen) for the past 17 years. Writing is a very complex skill that, in fact, differs from one culture to another. Writing well implies one's familiarity with diverse and complex texts and grammatical structures; on a higher level, such as literary writing, it also requires philological training (philology= "love of words") which is a European traditional method less known in the United States. I have provided both traditional SAT training and SAT philological training (which includes rhetoric, grammatical and psychological analysis, creative writing) to my SAT students with excellent results. My 25-year experience has covered writing articles, translation of American novels, translation of management and marketing books for a British university, American English conference/simultaneous interpreting, as well as constant tutoring to students and adults. I am certified in SAT Writing, Reading, ACT, Public Speaking, Vocabulary, Creative Writing, Child psychology, foreign languages, philology and business/international affairs.

Currently I employ a personalized immersion English (grammar and literature) method that allows students to learn fast all the necessary information. I taught and tested diplomats in Washington D.C. and Virginia, where diplomatic schools teach such language-immersion courses to ensure the best performance of students on tests like ILR, TOEFL, and foreign service exams.

In my collaboration with various schools, I have received praise for the competitive results, the complex content of my lessons, as well as for managing to develop children's interest in learning. Thus the student learns very fast some essential behavioral patterns, guidelines, and character-building literature, along with practicing book exercises. My career covers over 25 years of teaching experience in the United States and Europe; I teach 7 days/week, flexible hours between 7am-11pm. In Europe I studied child psychology especially with a focus on French methodology, and lately I have pursued online coursework towards a PhD in Child Education and Psychology from a European school; I also worked on several programs for ADD-ADHD children organized by UNICEF, Montessori-Naples, and Motivation (UK charity group).

Dyslexia

My main certifications for tutoring dyslexia-diagnosed students are: a European Bachelor of Arts degree in English with extensive study and practice in: Phonetics, Child Psychology, Dyslexia and Special Needs/ADHD children. I also hold a master's degree in diplomacy with certifications in linguistics and etymology (Latin, Italian, French), thus I am able to offer more in-depth explanations to my students than a regular teacher can provide. Other certifications I've obtained are useful too for a well-rounded methodology: spelling, vocabulary, accent reduction, writing, reading comprehension, and proofreading. In addition to my college background I practiced my training in Romanian orphanages and in Naples Italy, as well as in the United States where I helped dyslexia-diagnosed children and adults improve their pronunciation, reading/writing, and diction skills. I have also passionately continued to study over the past 25 years and currently I am in process of pursuing additional certifications in child psychology and special needs education from European schools. Each dyslexia case is different, therefore I always teach my students according to personalized data, employing educational tools such as: verbal stimulation through relevant readings and writing; comparative phonetic studies; practicing phonics and presentations; identifying the student's weaknesses and creating a priority-based curriculum. I am always focussed on addressing psychological issues (e.g. shyness, fear, concerns, etc) through interactive conversation that aims at establishing co-operation and earning the student's trust in order to better help him/her. We study: letter formation, writing, recognition skills, linguistic awareness, sound-meaning exercises, texts, poetry, technological tools e.g. recording, CDs, TV sources, etc. Children have also responded tremendously well to more entertaining approaches: songs, games, speech-related drawing/painting, and role-playing that can trigger their emotional/ instinctive responsiveness and help them control and overcome their linguistic barriers. (Regarding arts: I am also certified in Arts and trained at the National Academy in NYC, thus I have been able to apply drawing and drama skills to my special needs classes.) I truly enjoy teaching and helping my students, and this dedication and patience have led to success stories. My lessons are always results-oriented based on specific plans that occasionally require parental co-operation, but most of the time are only my responsibility.

Fitness

Hi, and welcome to my page! I am a European teacher offering a unique 6-hour Flamenco-Aerobics course (1h. 30min. lessons) to women and girls who wish to achieve their fitness goals in a graceful dance-oriented manner. I have been successfully teaching this course since 1996, recently as part of the homeschooling program offered by DIPLOMAT, Languages & Art school, in Italy and the United States. The WyzAnt fitness course consists of a smooth and very feminine style of aerobic exercise based largely on Flamenco moves. It is designed to include: 20min. warm-up consisting in Ballet-style stretching techniques; the actual Flamenco Aerobics part for 1h and a 10 minute cool-off with slow relaxing Yoga and Pilate exercises. The Flamenco-Aerobics part is characterized by vigorous yet graceful moves that follow the lively rhythms of European Spanish/Flamenco music; it stimulates the waist area, arms, hips, ankles/feet, wrists-hands, shoulders and neck; and it emphasizes flexibility, posture, balance, and good mood. The attire is plain and consists of black/navy-blue leotard, leggings, ballet shoes or just thick socks (plus light Flamenco accessories e.g. a rose hairpin). No actual Flamenco equipment will be needed, this is a Fitness/Aerobics class. Private classes will be offered in-home, at a location provided by the student/client, or at a gym. My credentials are primarily related to client referrals and my life-long fitness/dance/arts involvement that has always included a passion for Flamenco. Pursuing physical fitness through sports and dance has always been at the top of my interests and, over the past 30 years, it has allowed me to stay as slim, agile, and toned due to a fitness regime that I'd be happy to share with my students. Even though I opted for a profession in Languages and Art, I have been involved from a young age in Gymnastics, Aerobics, Swimming, and Dance/Theatre. In Europe (Italy and Romania), I practiced Gymnastics, Latin dance/Lambada and Ballet; and in the United States I did Kickboxing, and practiced Aerobics, Flamenco dance (Dancer Ziva Cohen's School), and Martial Arts /Tang Su in Washington DC and Waldorf, Maryland -- where I was also featured in a Gold Gym fitness ad on the local television along with receiving contracts through 2 modelling agencies (Millennium Models and John Casablancas). In New York City I completed a super-fitness "Dance to the Max" program for 1 year at 92 Y Street Center doing: Flamenco (Metropolitan Opera dancer JoDe Romano's School), Ballet, Belly Dance, and Jazz , as well as regular gym training. Currently I offer a free 30-min. consultation with a 30-min. trial lesson. In addition to my university qualifications, being certified and experienced in teaching other tests (such as ESL/TOEFL, STAAR, SAT/ACT, GRE) -- and the fact that I studied English and related foreign languages for the past 45 years -- have also contributed significantly to my test prep lessons' success in Texas.
