Learning English as a second or other language requires dedication. These are skills that follow you throughout life. Learning to express yourself correctly will give you better opportunities in life. Learning a new language requires willingness to practice everyday. I complete assignments and activities with my students and ask them to go over the vocabulary or grammar throughout each day. This encourages repetition and then creates a habit--and practice, practice, practice makes perfect. I encourage taking trips to stores, libraries and restaurants to communicate with English speakers.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Education. I tutor several elementary students on different levels and different subjects. I completely support one on one work with students at this age range. I aim to help students not only complete, but also attain greater understanding of homework. I also aim to have students test ready. I have seen students gain confidence thus making them better students.
My role is giving the appropriate support, attention and direction needed to assist the student. Organization is key to studying. Using binder dividers, highlighters, different colored pens and pencils benefit the appearance of organization. Organizing readings and work is ultimately the most important- a favorite method is Marking the Text. This organizes a reading or problem and simply breaking it down into sections that allow for easy understanding.
