I am currently in my final year at Winona State University and will soon be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Music - Liberal Arts. I have taken three years of Music Theory, as well as supplementary classes in Form and Analysis and Orchestration/Instrumentation. Theory is my primary focus in my undergrad degree as I intend to ultimately teach the subject at a university. It is both my favorite and best subject.
Having been involved in music for 13 years I have accumulated a lot of knowledge about the subject. Some classes I have taken round out my knowledge base more than just theory. I have taken Music Appreciation, World Music, History of Rock and Roll, Popular Music in the United States, Audio Production, Instrumental literature and styles, as well as performing ensembles such as Concert Choir, Show Choir, Jazz Bands, and various Concert Bands including two local Community Bands. Classes I will soon be taking include the Science of Music, and Instrumental Pedagogy in Low Brass.
I have been playing trombone in both concert and jazz band settings for the past 13 years. I have studied using the Rubank method as well as supplements such as the Reginald Fink Tenor Clef Book and the Rochut Melodius Etudes Book.
While it is not my primary instrument, my proficiency with brass carries over into the trumpet and though I have never formally performed on the instrument I have taught several lessons on it and am capable of playing at an intermediate level.
