History can be a fun topic, so I'm happy to help you learn it! I enjoy helping my students understand why history can be so fascinating. In my work with exchange students from around the world, I have watched the fascination grow as my students learn about our culture and our history, and have learned so much about their countries' history, too. I hope I can pass that enthusiasm on to you!
I am happy to work with you to improve your vocabulary skills. I have 25 years of experience writing for business, law, and many different types of publications, and have worked with students on research papers, essays, and presentations. It's not just a matter of more words in your vocabulary, it's learning which are the right words.
Many people say they don't like to read, but it turns out that they just need some additional help to understand the material or develop better reading skills. Once you do that, the wonders of the world will be opened to you! I have worked with non-native English speakers on their reading, mostly at the high school level. I have worked with my own children on their reading skills, both in school and in a test preparation context for school tests, and PSAT/SAT testing as well.

Government & Politics
Government and politics can be so much fun! I'm happy to help you learn it! I enjoy helping my students understand the workings of our government, both federal and state. I'm a lawyer, so hopefully I know enough about government, politics, and history to explain it to you. There are no magic bullets for getting ready for the LSAT - just good, solid, hard work and good coaching. A tutor can guide you, give you approaches for studying, advise you on techniques, and point out your errors. I can help you on all aspects of LSAT test prep: logical reasoning, reading comprehension, and logic games. Let's talk and get you ready!
Proofreading is a skill I developed years ago while still in college. I have reviewed articles for publication, research papers, congressional testimony, and high school and college research papers. I worked early in my career as an editor for a nationally known legal publication; being accurate in our style, grammar, and punctuation was as much part of our reputation as the content of our articles and court analyses. Pretty much anything that needs to be looked at by someone else for review should be thoroughly proofread before submission; I can help with your documents.
I have worked for the federal government, in private practice, and as in-house general counsel for a small consulting firm and for an international environmental company. I've taught and tutored students in contracts, administrative law, environmental law, business law, and constitutional law.
I have taken the bar exam in two states (Oregon and California). California has a difficult three-day exam. I understand how the states test on essays as well on multiple choice.
