Music theory has been one of my favorite disciplines and passions. I hold both a Minor degree in Music and BA in Physics from Bates College. My theory training continued at Berklee College of Music, and today has led me to continue study through the many books available. I have found many creative and exciting ways to share and apply music theory with students of all levels, especially those in composition. My personal composition credits include music for multiple television programs.
Karl has coached students in Ear Training for over 15 years. He uses a roster of exercises developed at Berklee College of Music that provide a logical, and enjoyable progression in Ear Training. Karl accepts students at all levels, and can incorporate Ear Training with the study other instruments, or as a stand alone discipline for vocalists. He finds that Ear Training students begin to hear, understand and appreciate music with greater depth. This discipline is especially useful for vocalists, performers and composers.

Karl has taught guitar for over 6 years. He will cover both conventional sight reading, guitar tab, chords, finger picking, and playing songs. Karl will have you playing at least two chords, and singing along at the first lesson (if you desire to do so) and is great at keeping the learning both fun and rewarding. Both accoustic and electric players, devotees of classical, blues and rock are welcome.
