Social Studies and Writing Tutor

In 2014, I completed my M.A. from the University of Missouri in Medieval History, so I?m very comfortable tutoring history and other social studies. As a teaching assistant at Mizzou for two and a half years, I graded over a thousand student writing assignments in history classes ranging from medieval Europe to nineteenth century Europe to twentieth century US foreign policy. I?m also an experienced writing tutor, with a year working for the Writing Center at Mizzou. Working for a universit... [more]

Macintosh

I have used computers with Macintosh operating systems for over twenty years, and am capable of tutoring average usage of any operating systems from System 7 to the most recent OS, 10.8. I regularly use various web browsers, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat. I can tutor some of the more advanced functions of Mail and iTunes, and demonstrate many other common and uncommon features and functions.

Social Studies

In addition to my B.A. in History from Truman State, I earned a minor in Medieval Studies, and took coursework in linguistics, art history, anthropology, religion, philosophy, and the history of language. I'm also nearing completion of an M.A. in Medieval History, focusing on cultural interaction and religious conversion, which draws in aspects of art, literature and religion.

Classics

In terms of language and linguistics, I've taken four Latin classes, including instruction in language and paleography. At the undergraduate level, I took two classes on different periods of ancient Greek history, a survey of post-Socratic Greek philosophy, and a survey of classical civilizations. At the graduate level, I've taken two classes on the history of ancient Rome. I'm particularly strong on the fall of Rome, as that takes a prominent place in early medieval history, my area of expertise.
