Previous experience working with students in the areas of elementary math, middle school math and pre-algebra, algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, and trig.
I currently teach algebra 2 in a one on one setting, and also tutor a few students in algebra 2 / trig. I've been teaching mathematics to middle, high school, and college students since 2002.
I hold BA and MS degrees in biology from New York University, and hold Science Education Certification from the City College of New York, along with a NYS Certificate in Biological and General Sciences, Grades 7-12.
I have a minor in chemistry from NYU.
I received a 100 on the Regents exam in high school, and I have previous experience teaching and tutoring the content matter.
I taught physics for 2 years, and currently tutor students in regents physics and honors physics classes.
I have ample SAT math materials, including diagnostics practice tests, and content & topic specific materials, along with 100 of the most important concepts, and 20 tactics/strategies that can be consistently employed to answer each question.
I am a certified 7-12th grade teacher of biological and general science in NY and NJ, and have over 10 years teaching and tutoring in the area of science, including Earth science, chemistry, physics, and the biological sciences also.
I prepared students for the NYS Regents examinations in Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry, and in Earth Science, Living Environment, Chemistry, and Physics. Having been a NYS educator my whole life, and having attended public schools in NYS, I am very familiar with the NYS Regents format, content, and overall strategies in preparing students for the math and sciences.
As an educator in the subject areas of math & science, I've gained a great deal of insight and knowledge into the Common Core standards, sequencing, and curriculum. Additionally, I'm very familiar with the expectations of student achievement upon completion of the Common Core math & science subjects, along with the test preparation skills set to ready students for Regents and final examinations.
I have over 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience working with students of differing grade levels (grades 4-12), backgrounds, abilities, and interests. I specialize in the subject areas of math & science, and mentor and work with students in the areas of study skills, life skills, test taking and preparation, and enhancing their academic abilities. I have worked with home school students in various capacities for the past four years.
