I have several years' experience as a Business Education teacher. Being that I have taught Business English, which emphasized grammar and punctuation, I feel very confident in helping students improve their writing skills. I have experience as a substitute resource teacher and have experience in teaching reading.
I have a K-12 multiple subjects credential from LAUSD. Although my experience is with adults and young adults, I did complete a year of student teaching in both a Kindergarten class and a third grade class. I also raised two children and was a school volunteer at an elementary school where I tutored a student in division and multiplication. I feel very qualified to work with elementary school aged children.
I have a LAUSD multiple subjects teaching credential for K-12 + adult. Although I do not have a designation for special needs, I do have 24 years of experience in working with students with special needs. I worked at a LAUSD vocational school where we had a department for "Adults with Disabilities." Each term, both adults and high school students with special needs were mainstreamed into my classes. I have attended lectures and have enough experience to feel very confident in working with special needs students.
I taught at a LAUSD vocational school and on all of my subjects' course outline was a requirement to prepare students for work. I had my students prepare resumes in class and showed videos about job interviewing, dressing for success, etc. In my home I have several books and countless handouts on job searching. My 24 years of teaching experience kept me current with all of the new trends in job searching. I feel my experience will help me guide students in the right direction without making common mistakes.
Although I do not have a Credential in Special Education, I do have several years' experience with LAUSD in teaching students with special needs. I taught at WVOC which is a LAUSD adult school. Special needs students were mainstreamed into all of our classes and about 20% of my students came from the "adults with disabilities" program. I also had some high school students with special needs. In addition to my work experience, I also have an adult son with Autism so I am very prepared to accept all the challenges that I may face and welcome the chance to try different strategies to help students reach their full potential.
I am qualified because I have passed the CBEST exam. I passed this exam in order to acquire my LAUSD credential. I have a credential in K-12 + adult (multiple subjects). I stayed current with topics on the CBEST by teaching adults and high school students. I would enjoy a tutoring assignment where I could offer strategies for passing the CBEST exam.
