Vocabulary

Teaching English for 13 years has helped me guide students towards mastery. Using a variety of sources, such as "1100 Vocabulary Words Every Student Should Know", class novels and sample SAT tests, I have found that vocabulary is not something that should be rote learning. I introduce new vocabulary not only through definitions and tests, but on a daily basis, in my vernacular during lectures. I find that a student needs to hear me say their vocabulary in casual conversation or class lecture, to fully comprehend and retain its meaning.
