I have been tutoring for the last 12 years throughout middle school, high school, and college. I worked as a director of a program coordinating mentor and mentee pairing for Harvard Students and high school students in Boston. I ran this group for two years and we had over 25 different pairings in the program. I also mentored my mentee about school, life, and college applications. In addition, I was an English as a Second Language Consultant on campus, and I worked with graduate students on i... [more]
I have tutored students in Algebra 1 over the last 9 years. I have taken advanced algebraic theory classes as well as all underlying mathematical classes through Calculus III (multivariate calculus). I have a deep understanding of algebraic theory as well as appropriate teaching methods that I have developed with a wide variety of clients of all ages and skill levels.
I took Algebra 2 when I was in high school as well as in-depth algebraic systems while I was in college. I attended a Mathematics, Science, and Technology High School.
I took Calculus 1 and Calculus 2 at Harvard College. I studied many topics including derivatives, integrals, applications of calculus in the material world, and general priniciples of area, volume, and Riemann sums. I have tutored over a dozen students effectively in the subject raising their grades along the way.
I studied Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Biochemistry as a pre-medical student for 3 years. I have also tutored extensively in these subjects on my college campus and outside of it. Chemistry is an important science that allows us to understand how the world around us operates on a very small scale. If we can begin to understand how chemicals interact and are organized, we can make appropriate and informed decisions in our lives.
I went to a Mathematics, Science, and Technology High School and I have since studied abstract analysis of geometrical models at Harvard through different classes.
Pre-Algebra is the basis for all math concepts. I teach in a lively and engaging manner, and I work to make sure students understand the connections between pre-algebra and the real world. By doing so, I have helped many students remember concepts that would be lost so easily without appropriate practice. I have worked with students in this subject for over a decade now.
I studied Pre-calculus at my Mathematics, Science, and Technology High School. We were required to write essays on the explanation of pre-calculus and trigonometry topics. I have tutored extensively in Pre-calculus in college as well.
I studied statistics for three years in high school. I utilized statistical analysis of models while I was in college to write my thesis.
I studied Linguistics in college. I focused mainly on the way English grammar interacts with other grammars of the world. I take a cross-curricular approach that relates English to other subjects so students get a fuller understanding of the subject.
I worked as an English as a Second Language Consultant for three years while I was an undergraduate. I helped speakers of many different languages (Russian, Farsi, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) achieve excellent proficiency in English through their work with me. We discussed idioms, grammatical structures, sound structure, reading comprehension strategies and learning methods.

I hold a Linguistics Degree, and I am well-versed in the best ways to teach language and grammar acquisition strategies. I have worked improving student's ACT English scores for over a couple years now and I average a 4-5 point improvement for student's in a few weeks' time.
I have worked as an ACT tutor in Math for many years now. I utilize a student oriented approach to make mathematics and formulas fun and engaging. Mathematics is the core of understanding in many fields, so doing well on the ACT Math section can help a student solidify his or her confidence in the study and application of mathematics.
Elementary Math is the foundation for all other math. Although it can be daunting to start from square one in elementary school, the benefits of creating a solid basis of math skills whilst in elementary school is paramount. Multiplication, Division, Subtraction, and Addition are just some of the exciting topics I am able to explain well and make relevant to the elementary math student today.
I worked as a Summer Urban Program Tutor in Boston this past summer after graduating from Harvard. I had to create curriculum in Math, Science, Literacy, and Science to review the concepts that the Kindergarten through sixth grade students had learned in school the previous year. I worked in my position for 8 weeks. I taught the curriculum to each of the grades and tutored struggling students privately after the program.
I took both an Anatomy and Physiology Response to Pharmaceuticals class and a formal Pharmacology class in college. I received an A grade in both of them. I studied the formal structure of drug synthesis and the mechanisms of action of different drug classes.
I studied sociology in college. I have taken classes in sociological analysis and classification of groups in language as well as in education. I have tutored in this subject for three years and I take a very hands on approach to teaching the topic by making it relevant to my students and their lives.
