I have an associate degree in early childhood education. I have a bachelor's degree in elementary ed. I have been teaching and tutoring for 20 plus years. I believe that it is very important, when teaching young children, to start where they currently are in their learning and build from that level.


Phonics

I have a master's as a reading specialist and have been teaching and tutoring for 20+ years. I have taught reading for 14+ years and have commonly worked two jobs, teaching during the day and tutoring at night. My last year teaching 7th grade Intensive Reading, 87% of my students made learning gain with many testing out of Intensive Reading.


Study Skills

I have been a Reading Specialist and a literacy coach at the elementary and middle school levels. I am a trained Train-The-Trainer and have written and presented many inservices on study skills.I have been trained in presenting CRISS Strategies and have written cross-curricular materials for study skills in different content areas.


Dyslexia

I am a reading specialist with 20 + years of experience in education and 12+ years in Reading education specifically. I have a master's degree in reading and I understand how the brain works in students with dyslexia. I know that this problem originates in the language center of the brain, specifically in the area of phonological awareness. By improving skills in this area a young student will open the neuropathways to the comprehension section of the brain.


TEAS

I have a master's degree, Reading Specialist and have been teaching for 20 + years and tutoring for 5 + years. I have taught ACT prep, FCAT prep and SAT prep and my students did well. I teach using fun, relevant, engaging lessons.


Social Studies

I have a B.A. in elementary education and have taught elem. social studies for six-plus years. This is also an area I am very interested in. I have also written cross-curricular materials to support the middle school s.s. curriculum with reading strategies and study skills.
