English

My teaching background includes working with students at both the K-12 and university levels. I also have a history teaching students with special needs and students learning English as a second language (or third). This experience informs how I work with students, especially middle and high school students, to prepare them for the high expectations set at the college level. Having published two articles in double-blind, peer-reviewed journals, I use my own experiences as a doctoral student to work with undergraduate and graduate students throughout the entire writing process. I am also well-versed in APA, MLA, and Chicago. For younger students, I use my background as a language teacher to use phonics, games, and other age- and level-appropriate strategies to help students read and write.

I have 9 years of experience teaching English Language Learners in New York City.
