Learn InDesign, Photoshop, How to Create Your Own Website

A designer for many years, I am uniquely qualified to offer training in just about everything you want to do on a computer. Adobe Photoshop

I have been using Photoshop since about version 2.0 going back to the late '80s. I spent several years working in the printing industry and in catalog production where Photoshop was an integral part of this workflow. For several years after that and currently I still use Photoshop every day not only to modify and resize images for the web but to fix and correct photos for printed material also. I can simplify this gigantic program for new users in terms of the most important and useful features for whatever purpose they need images for. Photoshop Elements is a separate program with a different interface. Most of the important features are available in both programs.

Web Design

I have been working on websites since 2000, using Dreamweaver, with specific templates for the state of Maine Department of Agriculture, a local fitness gym, a local arts center, and for Maine Fiberarts, a nonprofit arts association. I have created several websites using a variety of web creation and image management tools. I can help a student work on a website that has been previously created, or create a website from scratch, including a comparison and an understanding of domain name registration, hosting services, Content Management Systems (CMS) and "static" website pages. I am proficient in Joomla! and WordPress, the most popular CMS platforms, RapidWeaver for Macs, and can help someone get started on any of a number of "do-it-yourself" platforms offered on the web these days.

Adobe InDesign

I have been using InDesign for at least 10 years, and have used it as the basis for hundreds of publications I have designed. I am currently a member of the Adobe Creative Cloud and am using all the CC versions of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.

Desktop Publishing

While "Desktop Publishing" is a rather archaic moniker in this day and age, and not all that useful since most printing of any kind starts off on the computer "desktop" these days, I have been using a computer to create digital "mechanicals" for commercial printing as well as documents to be printed on a laser or inkjet printer since the late 1980's. I can help students understand the difference between printing and publishing needs for home computer printers compare with professional/commercial printing companies. When it comes to software for creating publishing "from the desktop" I am proficient in database software such as Filemaker Pro, MS Office programs including Excel and Word, and Adobe products including Photoshop and InDesign, all of which are often necessary in creating appropriate files to be printed.


I have been a Macintosh power user since 1985. I have managed my own business as a tutor in all things Macintosh for years. I worked as a Mac Specialist for Apple for three years and gave many workshops and one on one training.
