I am an Exceptional Child teacher in a K-5 school where I teach math inclusion. I previously worked as a reading tutor in grades k-3 and I have tutored several elementary students during the summer. I also worked with a blind student in the regular classroom for grades 2-8.
I am currently an Exceptional Child teacher where I work with k-5 students with learning disabilities. I have worked in a self-contained classroom where I assisted a blind, nonverbal student with autism. I also worked as an aide for a blind student in the regular Ed classroom for 7 years. I am familiar with differentiation and with the accommodations provided for students with special needs.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
I have taken courses to receive a certificate in autism. I currently work as an exceptional child teacher whet I serve 7 students with autism in the regular classroom. I completed the Foundations of Autism training through the Department of Public Instruction in North Carolina.
I can read Braille. I worked as a one on one aide for a blind student in the regular classroom. I created worksheets, quizzes, tests, books, and activities in Braille for my student. I also transcribed all of his work for the teacher.
