Music Theory

Music theory is the basic foundation for all musicianship, especially for conductors and composers. Whether you are struggling to understand the Circle of Fifths or Schoenberg's twelve-tone matrix, or wanting to expand beyond what is taught in standard music theory courses, I can help you to achieve a greater understanding of music.

Ear Training

Every trained musician learns the basics of ear training and sight-reading. This is especially true for conductors, for they must lead rehearsals and correct any and all mistakes present in the ensemble. Among the techniques I use are solfege, familiar melodies, and the use of the voice to improve a student's ear.

Guitar

I have played guitar for twelve years. I began teaching guitar ten years ago to friends who wanted to learn. My first professional teaching job was with Hueston Music in Rockledge, Florida, where I taught after-school classes on guitar, piano, and voice. Since then, I have given private voice, guitar, and piano lessons as my primary source of income.

Piano

I have played piano for ten years, beginning with a piano class my high school offered, but soon began studying privately. My first professional teaching job was with Hueston Music in Rockledge, Florida, where I taught after-school classes on guitar, piano, and voice. Since then, I have given private voice, guitar, and piano lessons as my primary source of income.

Voice (Music)

I began singing in choir ten years ago; since then, my voice has been my primary instrument. My first professional teaching job was with Hueston Music in Rockledge, Florida, where I taught after-school classes on guitar, piano, and voice while pursuing my Associate of Arts degree. When I relocated to Jacksonville, Florida to pursue my Bachelor of Music in Performance (vocal emphasis), I began teaching privately, and have continued to do so since.
