Algebra 1

I have been using basic algebra since elementary school. Math has always been my favorite subject, and I've always excelled at it. Algebra 1 topics are used extensively throughout accounting, business, and economics, which are my primary fields of study. I can bring a real-world perspective to math by relating these fields to algebra and giving useful, every-day examples.


Microsoft Excel

I have 7 years of experience using Excel for Accounting and Economics classes and jobs. I am extremely proficient in all aspects of the program, up to and including using pivot tables and macros. I have used Excel 2013 for the last year and am up to date on all new additions to the program.


Microsoft Word

I have more than 7 years of experience using Word as a student and in my jobs. As a grad student I was tasked with typing manuscripts in Word for a professor. This involved using many advanced techniques, including equation editor and macros.


Microsoft PowerPoint

I have used Microsoft Powerpoint for 7 years in both school and work. In graduate school I was tasked with creating presentations for professors using Powerpoint, and received very good feedback on my work. I also use Powerpoint on a regular basis as a professor myself and in my other job as a researcher.


Statistics

During my undergraduate degree, I took two semesters of Business Statistics and achieved an A in both. During graduate school, I took three semesters of applied statistics and econometrics. I have experience with both theoretical and applied statistics and with statistical software tools.


SQL

I have 2+ years of experience using SQL on an almost daily basis. I am a member of a local SQL users group and have prepared a talk on the subject of beginning SQL. My co-workers often come to me for SQL-related questions and have asked me to teach an SQL class.

For my accounting major, I was in the auditing track and took Internal Auditing and Information Technology Auditing in addition to the required Auditing class. I also tutored Principles, Intermediate, and Advanced Financial Accounting in the Business Academic Support Center on campus.

I have tutored many business students in Accounting and general Business classes, including MBA students. I have experience looking at and evaluating case studies, and I earned an A on my capstone case study project.


SAS

I often use SAS as part of my job for managing and analyzing data. I am a Certified SAS Base Programmer and am in the process of becoming a Certified SAS Advanced Programmer. I have also used SAS as part of my Master's degree program.


Econometrics

I have a Master's degree in Economics, which involved taking three successive semesters of statistical economics and econometrics. I also work as a Research Analyst at the Federal Reserve, where I do econometric research on macroeconomic time-series data. In addition, I am in the process of earning a second Master's degree in mathematics.


Microsoft Access

I have experience using Access from undergraduate classes in college, as well as from personal use. I use Access as a teacher to keep track of my students. I also use it as a library for my book and DVD collection. I have taken a placement test through Robert Half and scored "Advanced" for Access.


Microsoft Outlook

I have used Outlook for 7 years as both my personal and professional email and calendar tracking program. I have experience with Outlook 2010 as well as 2013. My experience extends to meeting scheduling, task lists, using the Notes feature, sharing calendars, importing calendars, multiple email accounts, and other advanced uses.


STATA

I have worked with STATA for over a year during my graduate studies in Economics. I am familiar with all of the basic techniques such as variable creation and manipulation, and regression and other statistical methods. I am also adept with more advanced coding tools such as do-loops and using custom functions.
