Mathematics and Statistics and Beyond

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts from The City College of the City University of New York. I have been teaching Mathematics and Statistics for 15 years at Hunter College and for the past 5 years I have been tutoring at a the Dolciani Math Learning Center located at Hunter College of CUNY.... Algebra 1

Allow me to use the experience that I have gained by teaching and tutoring hundreds of Algebra students to help you gain further knowledge of such basic functions as the absolute value, polynomial, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions. My Algebra students appreciate reviewing not only the definitions and methods illustrated in their textbooks and classes but also my derivations of important concepts and their applications. We review important concepts such as: the basics of functions including: factoring, graphing, finding their inverses and compositions of functions; graphing transformations of basic functions; complex numbers; rate problems, maximizing word problems and other word problems.

Algebra 2

Allow me to use the experience that I have gained by teaching and tutoring hundreds of algebra students to help you gain further knowledge of such basic concepts as algebraic expressions, functions, solving systems of linear equations, inequalities, factoring. Functions and equations that are reviewed are the absolute value, linear, quadratic, and other polynomial functions, rational, radical, logarithmic and exponential. My algebra students appreciate reviewing not only the definitions and methods illustrated in their textbooks and classes but also my derivations of important concepts and their applications. We review important concepts such as: rate word problems, scientific notation, the basics of functions including: graphing, finding their inverses and compositions of functions; long division of polynomials and synthetic division and complex numbers.

Calculus

Allow me to use the experience that I have gained by teaching and tutoring hundreds of Calculus students to help you gain further knowledge of such basic calculus concepts as limits, derivatives, integrals, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions and their applications to Calculus and Infinite Sequences and Series. My Calculus students appreciate reviewing not only the definitions and methods illustrated in their textbooks and classes but also my derivations of important concepts and their applications, especially to word problems. When solving problems, I enjoy incorporating not only an algebraic solution but also a geometric interpretation, where appropriate, as this helps students visualize the concepts related to the problem.

Microsoft Excel

I have worked in several industries requiring the use of Microsoft Excel.

Geometry

Prealgebra

Precalculus

Allow me to use the experience that I have gained by teaching and tutoring hundreds of Precalculus students to help you gain further knowledge of such basic functions as the absolute value, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions. My Precalculus students appreciate reviewing not only the definitions and methods illustrated in their textbooks and classes but also my derivations of important concepts and their applications. We review important concepts such as: the basics of functions including: graphing, finding their inverses and compositions of functions; graphing transformations of basic functions; complex numbers; the unit circle; maximizing word problems and other word problems. When solving problems, I enjoy incorporating not only an algebraic solution but also a geometric interpretation, where appropriate, as this helps students visualize the concepts related to the problem.

Trigonometry

Allow me to use the experience that I have gained by teaching and tutoring hundreds of Trigonometry students to help you gain further knowledge of such basic functions as the absolute value, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions. My Trigonometry students appreciate reviewing not only the definitions and methods illustrated in their textbooks and classes but also my derivations of important concepts and their applications. We review important concepts such as: the basics of functions including: graphing, finding their inverses and compositions of functions; graphing transformations of basic functions; complex numbers; the unit circle; maximizing word problems and other word problems.

Statistics

Through the several Statistics courses I have taught, I have reviewed with my Statistics students the fundamental concepts of explanatory analysis, inferential statistics and probability. Students learn such topics as: measurements of center (mean, median, midrange, and mode) and spread (standard deviation, interquartile range, range), basic set theory, theoretical probability, conditional probability, independence, probability distributions (including the binomial, geometric, normal, chi-square, and student's t- distributions), sampling distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing for various types of parameters, univariate and multivariate regression analysis and analysis of variance (ANOVA).

SAT Math

Allow me to use the experience that I have gained by teaching and tutoring hundreds of students to help you gain further knowledge of the mathematics required on either of the following: The mathematics section of the SAT includes questions on arithmetic operations, algebra, geometry, statistics and probability. The SAT Math Level 1 subject test includes material from algebra and geometry and tests your problem solving skills. The SAT Math Level 2 subject test includes material from algebra, geometry, trigonometry and precalculus and tests your problem solving skills.
