I am a life-long Chicagoan who earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science at UIC. I have 15 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, and a true passion for teaching. Java is a great language to learn. If you are struggling with Java programming concepts, object-oriented design or debugging practices, I would be excited help.


HTML

HTML is a great language for anyone interested in designing and building websites and apps. I use HTML personally and professionally and enjoy sharing my knowledge.


SQL

SQL is a great way to SELECT, UPDATE and INSERT data on your desktop, mobile device or server. I enjoy sharing my knowledge about this powerful query language. SQL has been a critical skill in all my professional roles.


Web Design

My strengths are in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP. I use frameworks like Bootstrap, JQuery and Java Spring for the desktop and mobile websites that I develop.


ASP.NET

ASP.NET with C# is a great skill to have on your resume. Business processes that rely on Excel and Access can often evolve into internal workflow applications. I currently work with Visual Studio 2015 to develop applications for the legal technology sector. I also helped a student design and develop a web-based movie database with C# and Microsoft SQL Server. I am always excited to share my skills and experiences with web application development.

I have worked on C++ projects in college and professionally. I used C++ to create a tool that identified brown dwarf stars by streaming data from multiple data sources.

UNIX/LINUX comes standard with many powerful command line tools, that can be used for file processing, scheduling and networking. I use CENT OS (a version of Linux) at my current position and I tutored students on Solaris (a version of UNIX) at UIC.


PHP

My website is written in PHP. I recommend it for small to medium sized websites. PHP is fun to learn and you can get results right away.

I work with JavaScript professionally. When errors pop up, I use the JavaScript console in Chrome to track down bugs and resolve issues.
