I have worked with students from elementary schools to college on memory skills, organizational issues, time management and functional skills. I easily incorporate simple techniques to use of technology tools into the specific lifestyle of the person. I am very observant and attentive to each person's learning styles and preferences and patient in slowly introducing new methods.
I have worked in private homes for early intervention, public schools in special day classes and regular classrooms with mainstreaming, non-public schools and residential programs for those with special needs. I have a "whole person" approach, addressing the IEP, integrating the classroom peers and teacher, family and community and incorporating the student's interests and strengths to promote success. I believe strongly in peer modeling and will always try to incorporate another student in an activity and engage the student with school staff outside of the classroom. I like to work closely with the IEP team to address each goal and carry-over of skills.

Hard of Hearing
I have worked closely with audiologists and comfortable with helping students manage their aids and supporting teachers who use a FM system. I also have worked with classroom integration, focus on aural rehabilitation including lip reading, safety, conversation skills and communication skills. I always monitor a child's communication skills in all settings (classroom, playground, cafeteria) and ensure appropriate seating and classroom material presentation.
My experience includes working with those on articulation, voice disorders, stuttering, mutism, non-verbal disorders, vocal abuse (nodules, polyps, adenoids) and those with cleft palates. I am very creative in finding carry-over activities and in creating word lists that include words from a child's curriculum, interests and family activities. I do believe in quick 5-10 min daily drills and "RTI" (response to intervention) before one has an IEP.
