Hello, I am a graduate from Thomas Edison State College, and I specialize in teaching music in the Classical style on violin, piano and organ. I have been playing the piano for 19 years, and have had experience performing for recitals, church services and weddings. My training style for beginner students uses the Suzuki method, and I introduce them to finding notes using the numbered fingerings before showing the note names and locations with flashcards as they proceed through book one. One of my primary goals in teaching is to find out what the student desires to play, and then to incrementally show them the steps necessary to be able to play it. For more advanced students, I am capable of teaching Bach, Debussy, Beethoven and Chopin, if the songs they are working on falls under a category of music I have previously studied. Playing the piano has been a passion of many years, and I would be happy to show you how to play the pieces you enjoy.
I have been playing the violin ever since I was four years old, and have attended many Suzuki Workshops and Institutes over the course of my years playing the instrument. My teachers have included Liz Arbus, Margaret Shimizu, and Cheryl Scheidemantle, and I have performed for many occasions; primarily for weddings, church services and anniversaries. I have tutored beginner students in both Suzuki and the bluegrass style. As these have nearly graduated from Suzuki Book One after a few months of study, I feel confident that I can teach other students with the same degree of success.
