I am a certified Virginia English and Speech Communication teacher with five years of teaching both English and Speech in a classroom setting. As an experienced English teacher, I taught grammar, writing, reading, and vocabulary to middle school (6th - 8th Grades) and high school students (9th - 12th grades).
I have five years of classroom experience, two in teaching English and three in teaching study/test taking skills. I have completed graduate courses in Teaching Literature and Composition K-12, Teaching Literature 6-12, and Teaching Composition 6-12. I currently tutor elementary students in reading.

I am a Virginia certified teacher with endorsements in Speech Communication and English. I have four years of classroom experience teaching high school public speaking; two years of classroom experience teaching English (includes spelling, vocabulary, grammar, reading, and writing); and three years of experience tutoring elementary students in language arts (including spelling and grammar). I also have three years experience preparing elementary students for regional speech competitions.

I taught K-6th grades for three years, primarily in the field of music. During those three years I also supervised the late stay after care for First through Sixth Grades and provided academic assistance to those students in completing their homework in language arts, reading, social studies, and on occasion, basic math and science. I completed undergraduate courses in Educational Psychology K-12, General Teaching Methods, and Teaching English and am experienced in tutoring upper elementary students in social studies/history.
I am a Virginia certified teacher with an endorsement in English and speech communication. I have completed graduate coursework in teaching literature and composition K-12, teaching literature 6-12, and teaching composition 6-12. I have also tutored reading students who have little or no phonics background.
I have been teaching students how to play the piano for a total of 10 years since 1982. My students have ranged from beginner to early advanced levels of proficiency. They have also played in public recitals or in church.
As a 7th grade Life Skill teacher, one of the academic survival skills I taught them was study skills. This included ways to take notes in class, various study methods, and test taking skills. I also taught these aspects in my English classes.
For six years as a certified Virginia teacher, I was a guest speaker in Virginia high schools presenting topics that help high school students put a practical application to the English and Government SOLs in grades 10 - 12. I have also tutored students to help them prepare for English and Social Studies related SOL tests. As a graduate student taking education courses, I was required to be familiar with SOLs for various grades and prepare lesson plans for those SOLs as part of my course requirements.
