I am an engineer that is very interested in mathematics education and have done extensive tutoring n the area of discrete mathematics in the past. Linear programming is a method of determining best possible outcomes when provided with mathematical constraints or parameters that are expressed in different fashions and is one of the main areas of endeavor in discrete math. discrete mathematics is separate from other areas of mathematics that are continuous such as calculus. Counting principles, probability, combinations, and permutation computation are also covered here. This includes ordered and non-ordered choices. I try to show the real world applications when tutoring this class as the principles are frequently used for decision-making in business. I enjoy tutoring this class because the applications and their meaning to real situations becomes immediately apparent.

Differential Equations

I have been tutoring ODE's for 10 + years. I start with defining linear, non linear, homogeneous and non homogeneous. Then we take on integrating factors to simplify and solve ODE's by realizing that the integral and derivative if e^x are the same. I explain the method of reduction of order, eigenvectors and eigenvalues, method of undetermined coefficients and finally an introduction to solving PDE's

AutoCAD

I was an undergrad AutoCAD teaching assistant as an engineering major at the University of Delaware. I worked as an engineering assistant upgrading AutoCAD drawings for life support system parts to guarantee ISO 9000 compliance. I have also been an AutoCAD instructor for several years through community Education in Texas.

Logic

I have tutored and taught logic including critical thinking, sentential calculus, truth tables, validity and soundness, symbolic logic, and hypothesis testing. This is done with an eye toward argument reduction and used for debate purposes.I teach the concepts of reduction and expansion of argument for the purpose of testing validity and soundness. I teach the concepts of modus ponens and modus tolens I teach deductive and inductive reasoning. Initially I set the basis by insuring an understanding of the term truth as well as what is an axiom or a fallacy. I instruct syllogism creation and analysis as well as basic important principles such as exclusion, bivalence, non-contradiction and the excluded middle. I have used these principles in the areas of computer programming and game theory application

Mechanical Engineering

I have a bachelors degree in Mechanical engineering with extensive tutoring experience in the class areas of thermo 1 and 2, fluids 1 and 2, strength of materials (also known as mechanics of solids) statics and dynamucs.
