I have been a Photoshop user for 28+ years, as a Professional Photographer and Creative Director. I regularly use Photoshop for images used in Catalogs, Advertising, Marketing Communications, Fine Art, Web and Digital Publishing.
Adobe Illustrator is an indispensable software that I have used for 20+ years in my business for creating vector based artwork for branding, marketing, advertising and web projects.
As a Professional Photographer and Creative Director, Adobe Lightroom is an integral part of my photography workflow. It has been designed with the photographer in mind and quickly becomes a very powerful tool for preparing photographs for final use in print or on the web. I have had the privilege of helping numerous novice to advanced amateur photographers learn Lightroom. Most find it significantly easier to use than Photoshop and are delighted with their final images.
I have been designing for print layout since 1982 and have used InDesign on a professional level since it's release in 1999. My teaching style is to help students learn the principles of visual communication and page layout, not just how to manipulate software. My professional experience with InDesign includes advertising, branding, marketing communication, catalogs, and digital publication layout with Digital Publishing Suite.
I have been a daily Apple Macintosh user since the release of the IIgs in 1986. During that time I have worked on hundreds of different Mac computers and have in turn taught dozens of clients to not only use the Mac in their businesses and personal lives, but to maintain and service them as well. I look forward to helping you discover the joy of using the Macintosh for either personal creativity via software like iPhone and iMovie or business productivity with software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier Pro and the like.
I am a traditionally trained graphic designer and photographer. My formal visual/graphic design education began when I was in the 7th grade and continued until graduation 6 years later. Over half of my daily formal curriculum was spent in studying visual arts. I have been working professionally in the communication arts business for the past 29 years, during which I have formally taught dozens of seminars, provided one-on-one tutoring and consulted professionally for numerous companies. My teaching method focuses on the principals of design, not simply the manipulation of computer software. So my tutoring method focusing on putting the principles to work in real life and learning how to create visual designs before sitting down in front of a computer.
