Elementary (K-6th)

I am a certified teacher in the state of Wisconsin. I am currently employed as a 3rd grade teacher in the city of Madison.

Phonics

As a third grade teacher, I work with phonics every day. After letter recognition, phonics is a foundational skill for successful readers. It is essential for decoding and recognizing letter blends. Studying word structures facilitates reading, which in turn facilitates comprehension. In my practice, phonics is practiced through reading, writing and speaking.

Study Skills

Organization, focus and clear goals are the key to successful study skills. There are many ways to practice, and some work better than others for different individuals. My approach as a teacher is to fit the study habits to the individual, so they become a part of life instead of an obligation. Learning and comprehension are always the intentions.

Zoology

I graduated in 2001 from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a B.S. in Zoology.

Macintosh

I have owned Apple products all of my life. I currently use my MacBook Pro and iPhone daily. I also have a strong understanding of windows based systems, so I am able to compare Mac & windows in a comprehensive way.

Microsoft Windows

I am proficient in all other MS applications. I have used MS Windows daily, both personally and professionally, for over 15 years.

Praxis

I am a certified teacher in the state of Wisconsin. I have successfully passed the Praxis I and Praxis II with high scores.

Social Studies

I am a certified teacher in the state of Wisconsin. I teach social studies every day in a public school. I have passed standardized tests, including the Praxis II, which cover social studies. I have lived in New York, Phoenix, Atlanta and Giza, Egypt and currently reside in Wisconsin. I have traveled extensively throughout Europe. I keep abreast of current events around the world and am always aware of cultural effects on society.

Handwriting

I teach cursive to 3rd graders as part of my job. I also correct printing and handwriting errors at this early age. My goal is to help students develop and practice proper handwriting before bad habits become permanent.

Common Core

I am a third grade teacher in the state of Wisconsin. I hold a license to teach first through eighth grades. As part of my school district's curriculum, we teach according to common core standards. I am very familiar with interpreting, understanding, implementing and assessing learning goals based on common core.
