Elementary (K-6th)

I have been in education for almost 50 years. I am a certified teacher (K-8) in the State of KY. I have been in elementary education for lots of years teaching mostly grades 6-8 in organized classes in Math and Language Arts (Reading, English Grammar, Spelling and Writing) more than any other subjects. I have spent most of that time in elementary schools (K-8) I have tutored many children before and after school as well as in the summer.


Phonics

I have been using the Barton method which is designed for students with reading issues for 4 years now.


Study Skills

I have incorporated lessons in how to study, use textbooks aids such as glossary and index as well as library references in my tutoring students in grades 3 and up. I am a certified teacher (K-8) in the State of KY. Dyslexia

I have tutored several students before/after and during the school day in an organized program based on the Orton-Gillingham method of teaching reading. I also managed a computerized literacy program for students struggling with reading some of whom were dyslexic.


Handwriting

As a young teacher, I had to take the Zaner Blozer lessons and pass tests at each level. I have never taught handwriting in the classroom but have tutored K and 1st grade students.
