I have experience with tutoring from past employment as a Peer Tutorial Educator at Elizabeth City State University. While working in that capacity I had the opportunity to help students with study skills to succeed. We helped with binder/notebook organization, note taking skills (Cornell Notes, T-charts) and more. We also focused on WICOR strategies that included Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading to Learn which are also certified AVID strategies.
I am qualified to tutor in social studies based on my lateral entry qualifications for middle grades. I have successfully been passed the Praxis II for social studies in the state of North Carolina.
I have a vast amount of expertise in the field of Political Science. I have earned an accredited Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. My expertise includes courses such as Introduction to Political Science, International Relations, American National Government, Comparative Politics, African American History, and many more.
I am qualified to teach common core standards. I currently teach 7th grade English Language Arts and have taught 6th grade as well, so I am highly familiar with common core standards and how to identify them. This has required me to plan lessons that are built on the standards.
