Ear Training

I have been studying ear training for 7 years, and been teaching for 3. I teach interval, scale, quality, inversion, and chord progression identification as well as sight singing, basic piano, and dictation. i use the program practica musica with many of my beginning ear training students and I teach from the book - Tonal Harmony by kofska +payne

General Music

I have 15 years of experience playing music of all styles and instruments of all types, look no further for a music teacher as I have everything you need to become a life-long player and enthusiast of music. Bring me any instrument and I'll teach you from the basics to the advanced points of any style. I have a BA in music from UCSC and am finishing up my Master in Compositions at Mills college.

Guitar

I have experience playing in Jazz ensembles, rock/pop groups, classical guitar, acoustic/singer-songwriter, and experimental. I have all the lessons, techniques, equipment and songs ready for any willing student! I teach not only learning songs by chords, tabs and by ear, but also using traditional sheet music as one would in a jazz or classical style.

Piano

I teach classical piano form the ground up - as it should be - reading music with a focus on rhythm (which most young players have trouble with). But additionally I teach pop/jazz/rock styles and improvisation alongside the classical approach to ensure a well rounded player! I have many technique exercises for players of all skill levels, and I introduce music theory to all my students as it becomes prevalent. I also include sound design of different keyboard patches into my instruction for intermediate and advanced students, using analog keyboard synthesizers and programs such as Logic pro. Whether you're child is just starting out, or you are a seasoned player who needs technical and artistic feedback and in-depth instruction, I can take you there!
