Judge Steve on Law, Criminal Justice, History & Politics

As a retired judge I am actively involved with teaching at several local universities. I began teaching continuing education courses to my fellow judges and attorneys. American History

I teach American and World History at the undergraduate university level. I was a double major summa cum laude with my Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science. My specialty was in American and Western History. My love of history led me to serve as an officer and board member on historical and museum boards including the Aurora History Museum.


Government & Politics

I was a double major Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History before obtaining my Juris Doctorate. I have used that political science degree as an active political scientist for over 40 years. I have over 40 years in public and political life both as an elected official and as a trainer of political candidates. With real life experience in the legislative branch my knowledge of the legislative process is invaluable in understanding the practice as well as the theory of representational democracy or a republic as is practiced and devised in the United States of America. As a retired state court trial judge I mentored new judges on how the judicial branch operated within the governmental structure and perspective. As a college professor I include teach politics and government at the undergraduate university level. Having experience in serving in all three branches of our government and teaching government and politics I enjoy sharing my love of both with my students and through tutoring.


World History

I teach World History at the undergraduate university level. I was a double major summa cum laude with my Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science. My specialty was in American, Western and World War II History. My love of history led me to serve as an officer and board member on historical and museum boards including the Aurora History Museum.


Law

As a retired state court trial judge and criminal prosecutor I have over thirty years of experience in criminal justice as well as business, civil, and criminal law. I teach at the university undergraduate and graduate levels in business law, criminal justice, criminal law, criminology, history, political science and sociology. As a former State Senator and State Representative I developed, created and guided the passage of legislation into law. I am one of the few experienced in law from the perspective of all three branches of government, judicial, legislative and executive.


Criminal Justice

As a retired state court trial judge and criminal prosecutor I have over thirty years of experience in criminal justice as well as business, civil, and criminal law. I have over ten years of teaching experience at the university undergraduate and graduate levels in business law, criminal justice, criminal law, criminology, history, political science and sociology. As a former state legislator and political scientist, I am experienced at political science communication, public policy, and public speaking.


Political Science

I was a double major in Political Science and History for my Bachelor of Arts, before attaining my Juris Doctorate. I used my political science degree for over 40 years as a political scientist, advisor, legislator and political activist As a retired state court trial judge and criminal prosecutor, I have over thirty seven years of experience in criminal justice as well as business, civil and criminal law. I have over ten years of teaching experience at the university undergraduate and graduate levels in Business Law, Criminal Justice, Criminal Law, Criminology, History, Political Science and Sociology. As a former State Legislator and Political Scientist, I am experienced at Government, Communication, Public Policy and Public Speaking.
