I have taught study skills to my students for the past seven years. I teach different study skills/procedures depending on the subject area. While teaching study skills and language arts, social studies, or science materials, I incorporate metacognition strategies. When I teach math, I tend to find a relevant study skill, like UPSL. Teaching a process, like metacognition or UPSL, usually helps students find success in the subject matter. This success brings the student back to using the study skills. It's a wonderful cycle!
