I am a native speaker originally from China. I was Chinese School principal for a year. I also taught Chinese at that school and have tutored youth and adult students. Consistent practice is what I emphasize for learning Chinese. That practice will include memorizing, reading, writing, listening and speaking. I generally ask students to plan their time for each section of the practice. For instance one can dedicate as little as 15 minute a day for reading. The goal is to do it for 15 minute every day. I also ask students to make their own flash cards by hand writing the characters or phrases with Pinyin and translations. I believe that one can learn more by doing. I am here to help students achieve their individual goals.
I have graduated with a Master's degree in Computer Science at Washington State University. Since then I have worked as a Systems Administrator at WSU for the last 15 years. I have been tutoring students at both high school and college levels. I believe that computer skills cannot be learned without doing it. So I always make up small exercises that applies the concepts and theory so students can really "see" what they have been taught. I am confident that my educational background and continuing teaching and learning in the computer field makes me a qualified tutor for Computer Science.
