Effective and patient tutor in Appleton specializing in math

Hi, I'm a social worker and stay at home mom with tutoring experience in math, science, and English at the middle, high school, and early college levels, especially with at-risk students. I'm looking to find a few students to assist in growing their understanding and confidence in a subject they are struggling with. Algebra 1

I have tutored in Algebra for over ten years, helping students figure out the mysteries of the "x," "y," and "z!" Algebra can be the base for higher level math and important to understand the core concepts. I help with homework understanding, test taking tips, and post- and pre- teaching (going over the chapters your student has just completed and/or looking ahead at the chapter that will be taught.) This double-teaching reinforces understanding and helps the student gain confidence!

Study Skills

I'm a social worker and stay at home mom who enjoys working with people and learning. I have tutored elementary, middle school and high school children as well as college aged adults, including high risk teenagers in foster care for several years. I take the approach that there is more than one effective way to study, depending on the student's strengths and the outcome desired. Learning how to learn and gaining confidence are key to successful mastering a subject. I'm happy to talk to you more about your academic needs and how I can help.
