Vocabulary

I taught 20 reading classes in 2014 for the Institute of Reading Development, many of which included vocabulary lessons up to and including prep for the SATS, as well as general vocabulary tools for college level education.

I have a BA and MFA from Mills College in English and Writing, graduated with a 3.97 GPA, and have been privately tutoring students aged 9 to adult in these subjects since 2012. I also did two teaching practicums during college, as a TA in remedial English classes at the community college level. Having written and edited dozens of academic papers and other forms of writing, I have an excellent understanding of English grammar.

The courses were designed and run by the Institute of Reading Development, which has been in business for more than 40 years. Instruction included various lessons on vowel teams, word families, and rhyming, employing games and interactive exercises designed to keep kids engaged and make the learning fun.
