Classics

I received a bachelor of arts in 2011 from the University of Miami in Religious Studies, with a minor in Classics. My focus in classics was primarily in Greek culture and civilization, throughout Alexander the Great's reign, and covering the period after his reign up until the rise of the Roman Empire. I studied ancient Greek and Latin for two years. For my senior year I wrote a thesis in Classics analyzing source documents on Alexander the Great. When tutoring this subject I try to get the student to understand the overall story first. Generally, if the student understands the overarching events and motivations, they will remember the details much more easily.

Python

My graduate research involves processing large amounts of data, as well as using that data to solve for various nonlinear systems of equations. For several years now I have been using Python to simplify these tasks for me. I have experience writing Python scripts that range from doing basic tasks--such as text file parsing--to more complex tasks, such as accessing/manipulating Excel files and piping information directly into the command line.
