I have a natural passion for teaching Math, Science and related topics. I've worked with students from Elementary through University levels. My students are from various backgrounds and challenges. I understand that a student has individual needs and will work with individual(s) to ensure successful learning. I have completed a number of Elementary Education Courses and familiar with development and application of Illinois State Standards of Teaching. I earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering,... [more]
I earned both Bachelor's and Master's of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. Engineering solutions require mastering fundamental Algebra and other advanced mathematics. In other applications, I have taught Algebra to high school and Adult students. I help students according to their level of understanding the subject and progress accordingly. Building confidence into my students has proved to be an effective strategy I use to ensure successful learning.
I have taken Algebra 2 coursework as prerequisite to earning my Engineering degree. I have been tutoring all level of Mathematics including Algebra 1&2, Geometry, PreCalculus 1&2, and Calculus 1 & 2. My teaching style depends on the student... that is: understanding the student's current level of problem solving and comprehension, highlighting important rules of respective topics, going over several examples, etc.
I have taken General Chemistry courses and advanced course in Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chem., Inorganic & Organic Chem., related applied courses in Food Microbiology, Food Analysis, etc.
My background is in Engineering and have taken all university levels of mathematics courses, including Geometry.
I have taken extensive math coursework: College level pre-calculus, Calculus I & II, Differential Equations and other complex math.
My degree is in Engineering and requires a solid math background.
My background is in Engineering & enjoy problem solving. I can help your student with numerous problem solving approaches, as necessary for him/her to thoroughly understand how to approach math problems.
My experience includes tutoring elementary level students in Mathematics.
I am a licensed Substitute Teacher working for two years in area Elementary and Middle (k-8) Public Schools. I delivered lesson plans and taught all core classes: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Writing. I worked with all student levels.
I have earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois. I have taken specialized Chemical Engineering courses in Process Control, Material & Energy Balances, Unit Operations I & II, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Process Design. My tutoring methods include, but are not limited to: Understanding the basic theory, organizing & setting up equations for problem solving (often through sketching diagrams for visualization) with use of various numerical techniques and or utilizing specialized math solvers (similar to MATLAB, COMSOL, Excel, etc. Currently, I am due to graduate in December 2015 with my Master's Degree in Food Process Engineering (a specialization in Chemical and Biological Engineering) from the Institute for Food Safety and Health, also belonging to the Illinois Institute of Technology. Specialized courses I take there include Food Analysis, Fundamentals of Food Science, Food Process Control, Advanced Food Process Control, Food Packaging, Food Microbiology & Food Microbiology Lab.
