I have formal experience (overall 7 years) in teaching English (as a second language) to Japanese nationals, and also have informal experience in teaching Japanese to non-native speakers of Japanese. I obtained an MA in linguistics with TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) in 1994 from California State University Northridge. The title of my graduation thesis was "Aspects of phonological exchange: borrowings in Japanese." I've been teaching ESL to native speakers of Japanese for several years and teaching Japanese to Americans for a few years.
