I am a Certified K-12 School Counselor and have also taught in a private school in all subject areas for students in K-8. I believe I have the background and qualifications to help elementary students in various subject areas. I also can creatively engage students through easy step-by-step approaches.


Phonics

I have a Masters and EdS in Counseling Psychology and had special training in the field of literacy working for a program called A Way with Words. I received training and coordinated tutoring programs throughout the city. Part of this training and programming had a strong focus on phonics.


Study Skills

I have a Masters and EdS in Counseling Psychology and had special training in the field of College and Career Counseling, as well as helping high school students with test prep, homework help, and study skills through a local Student Success Center at the high school. I helped students through planning and helping them through self-exploration to discover their own individual learning and study skills to help them succeed. In addition I helped them through the study skill process.

I have worked for many years with all kinds of students with Special Needs from young children to adults. I have been employed in many areas in the counseling and education fields helping to support students with Special Needs. I believe I am highly qualified in this area with my background in Education, K-12 School Counseling, and Counseling Psychology.


Career Development

I have a Masters and EdS in Counseling Psychology and had special training in the field of Career Development helping high school students through a local Student Success Center, as well as college students through our College Career Center. I also have experience running various Career assessments and providing direct one-on-one career counseling.


College Counseling

I have a Masters and EdS in Counseling Psychology and had special training in the field of College Counseling helping high school students through a local Student Success Center. I helped students through the researching and application process and in the career center as well. I also have a certification in K-12 School Counseling which is inclusive of training in College Counseling.


ADHD

I have a Masters and EdS in Counseling Psychology which is inclusive of ADHD/ADD. I worked in a Summer Treatment Program for children with ADHD/ADD, Conduct Disorder, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I also worked for many years with children and youth with ADD/ADHD and am very knowledgeable in the area.


Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I have a Masters and EdS in Counseling Psychology and had special training in the field of Autism. I have worked in the field of Applied Behavioral Analysis for years and am currently a Program Director in the area. In addition I taught a college level course on the Exceptional Child inclusive of children with special needs.


Dyslexia

I have worked with many students with learning disabilities and Dyslexia over the years. I have provided students with reading instruction through hands-on and one-on-one support in many different learning environments. With my background as a certified K-12 School Counselor and Educator, I believe I have the qualifications to work effectively with students who struggle with Dyslexia.


Hard of Hearing

I have a Masters and EdS in Counseling Psychology and had specialized training with those who are Hard of Hearing. I worked as a co-instructor for a course, a co-therapy group leader, and a camp counselor for those Hard of Hearing. I worked closely with the LEAD institute for those Hard of Hearing throughout graduate school.


Handwriting

With a background in teaching K-8th grade students in a private school, I helped many students with handwriting. I have tutored handwriting and have found that using a naturalistic method especially with those with special needs is most beneficial. I believe my background in Counseling also provides me with the patience to do well in helping with handwriting.


Common Core

I have a Master's in Counseling Psychology and am a K-12 Certified School Counselor. I have worked within educational settings for over 15 years and have done a lot of research on the Common Core. I have also helped students in the areas of Common Core practice.
