I spent my four years of college absorbing as much as I could in the subject of History and have spent the time since I received my degree working with children in this field. I have aided children in inclusion settings in History and Social Studies, as well as in tutoring settings, with success in improving their grades.
I've spent the last 10+ years teaching reading to students of all ages in private and school settings. I am familiar with beginning reading techniques (phonics, etc) as well as reading comprehension and vocabulary building on elementary and secondary levels.
I have my BA in History, a subject which requires extensive English, writing and research capability. I have spent the time since I received my degree working with students in this field and in English in everything from inclusion settings to tutoring settings, with proven success in improving their grades.
Government & Politics
I have taught SAT prep for about 8 years and I served as the Director of Education for Sylvan Learning Center, in which I was responsible for monitoring the SAT prep program, and ensuring it's effectiveness and integrity. I've helped many students over the years increase their SAT scores via strategies and personal analysis of their specific areas of need.
I have taught elementary level subject for almost 8 years at nationally recognized supplemental education learning centers, and I am currently the PreK at a nationally recognized, NAC Accredited Early Childhood Education Center.
I taught at a major, nationally-recognized learning center for 5 years, in all areas, and eventually became Director of Education for the Newport News, Virginia center. I am very familiar with a variety of study skills techniques, as such, and I have had 5 years of experience in teaching students how to apply strategies to help them further their success.
I worked for 5 years for a nationally-recognized learning center, in which I worked my way up to Director of Education. One of the subjects that I routinely taught was SOL prep in the areas of reading, writing, math, and social studies. I have 5 years of experience in test-taking strategies to help students excel on this crucial test.
I have my Collegiate Professional teaching license in the state of Virginia for History and Social Sciences. This is based on a Praxis II score of 180 on the Praxis II for Social Studies. This is beyond the minimum for passing.
