I have extensive phonics training. I teach a phonics-based reading course at LSU during the summer. I have trained several teachers in the use of phonemic awareness as a foundational building block for teaching young readers how to read. I have all of the blending charts and CDs, etc.
I have three degrees; two being graduate degrees. I am presently working on my Ph.D. I taught a studies skills class at the Academy. I am proficient in this area.
I have used Mac laptops exclusively since 2007. I am very proficient in the OS, and I often show new things to the reps at the Apple store. I am a Mac evangelist.
I have used Outlook and similar mail clients all of my life. This is a program that anyone with functional familiarity could teach someone else to use. Most folks only have need for limited functions within the program, and therefore only use those limited functions. However, I am well versed in using the advanced functions of this mail client.
Though I am a Mac evangelist, I used Parallels to maintain the most current Windows operating system (as crappy as they are) on my Macbook pro. I am well versed at using DOS, mschonfig, regedit, and other useful functions, as well as the standard software for various Windows OS versions.
I am certified to teach social studies to students in grades 6-12 in the state of Louisiana. This lifetime certification also includes a principalship certification and a superintendent's certification as well. You may view this certification upon request.
I worked at a high level in the LA Dept. of Education, and a primary responsibility of my job was facilitating and fostering growth for 19 failing schools in the Baton Rouge area. I provided significant professional development for local area principals and school boards in preparation for my state's transition from the Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum to Common Core PARCC assessments. Additionally, as the headmaster of a private academy for the last four years, I have instituted rigorous Common Core instructional and assessment practices in the Academy.
