A Chicago native with a Master's Degree in Learning Disabilities, I taught grades 1 through 12 ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, LD, BD, and Aspergers for 5 years in both public and private schools. I am a published book author and previously wrote for newspapers and magazines. I also taught H.S. journalism, as well as written expression to elementary, middle school, high school, and college students.

I am a published author, former teacher, and a former freelance journalist for newspapers and magazines. I also write a written expression book for teachers.

I have successfully taught ACT and SAT prep, and own my own tutoring service. I am a former Exceptional Children teacher with Masters Degree.


Elementary (K-6th)

I taught regular education and special education students, grades 1-12. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, grades K-8, and a Master's Degree in Special Education, grades K-12.


Phonics

I use several multisensory techniques, including Barbara Wilson, Linda Mood Bell, and Orton Gillingham to remediate phonics deficits. I taught this in schools and through my tutoring service.

I am an Academic Coach for college students and teach study skills for all grade levels. I have a Master's Degree in Special Education, a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, and have had my own tutoring service for 8 years. Prior to that, I was a teacher in both public and private schools.


Special Needs

ADHD

I taught ADD/ADHD students in both public and private schools, as well as teaching professional development classes for general education teachers who wanted to teach ADD and EC.


Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I am a life coach and tutor of higher-functioning Autistic children, teens, and young adults. I work as a team with parents to out homeschooling, etc student on an effective schedule. We begin with self-grooming and performing chores around the house, then work on longer term goals. References are available. I have a Masters Degree in Special Education.


Dyslexia

I am proficient in the Orton Gillingham, Barbara Wilson, and Lindamood-Bell methods which help students with Dyslexia. I tutored these methods during the seven years I owned my own tutoring business in the Chicago area, as well as the 2 1/2 years I've lived in Greensboro.


Homeschool

I homeschooled a seventh-grade boy who was Dyslexic and also had auditory processing problems. I also homeschooled a second-grade boy who was Dyslexic, had ADHD, and had visual processing problems. With both these students, we worked on phonics, spelling, vocabulary, written expression, and reading comprehension. I have a Masters Degree in Special Education, a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, and a certificate in teaching Higher-Level Thinking Skills.
