My students have written and spoken correctly during their school years and after school jobs. This knowledge has helped them in securing and keeping jobs for which they applied.
I have worked with many students over the years on writing which has included spelling, punctuation, and correct grammar. My students have become more at ease about writing and getting their points across nicely to the people they have written.
I have taught English many years in a classroom setting as well as with students in a home tutoring setting after teaching on a classroom during the day.
I have taught elementary math for 35 years in the California public schools in regular Ed and in special ed classrooms. I have also had several college courses in general math in preparation for my K through 8th grade self contained teaching certificate that I received in 1970. In addition, I have had a few math classes, while I was working on my special Ed degree, that taught us how to work specifically with special Ed students in a classroom setting. At the present I am also teaching math and reading at the local Sylvan Learning Center. (On the English test, the correct answer for number 7 is very, as really is not a correct adverb for the word tired).
I have taught elementary grades in reading and phonics for many years. My students have learned how to write and speak correct English while in my class and continued on to higher grades doing well in their usage of phonics. I have also done home tutoring after school was over, working with students who needed extra help with various school subjects. These students also improved their knowledge and understanding of these topics.
I have a special education degree from California State University San Bernardino in 1995. I have also taught special Ed for 26 years for Riverside County Office of Education. I retired last year from full time teaching and am now working part time as a home tutoring teacher.
I have taught Common Core subjects for the past several years for the County Office of Education as well as having workshops on the various subjects. This has included teaching in Special Ed classes utilizing the methods shown to us. In writing up students' IEPs, I had to explain how the Common Core methods would be used with each individual student.
