I served for 2 years in Tokyo as an LDS missionary. As a missionary I had the opportunity to teach English at least once a week, voluntarily, to non-native speakers. I taught a volunteer English class at least once per week for 2 years in Japan. Sometimes there were also classes for children. Some people also requested individual time. Most of the class(es) focused on speaking.
I spent 2 years as an LDS missionary in Japan. Hobbies, personality and preferences led to a more diverse grasp of the language, and cultural diversity also necessitated our ability to translate in some cases.
I have worked extensively with students preparing for the TOEFL. This has been through private tutoring for English as a second language. I have helped raise scores by an average of 3 points per section per yearly quarter, while simultaneously studying the preparation materials to better understand the formatting of the test.
