Special Needs

I am a certified Educational Therapist with 15 years of experience teaching children with Learning Disabilities on the Special Education teams. I have worked in public and private school systems throughout the Lower Peninsula. I work with various cognitive processing disorders, including visual and auditory processing disorders, ADD/ADHD, sensory integration disorders, dysgraphia, dyscalcula, and dyslexia.


Dyslexia

I have a BSPT with specialization in neuro rehab which applies to working with LD children. I received training as an educational therapist from Discovery Program in Virginia. I have been working in the school systems near me for approximately 15 years as a private contractor. I have successfully assisted children with dyslexia remediate their reading skills as much as 2.5 grade levels.


Handwriting

I have experience diagnosing and providing intervention for children who have dysgraphia in schools systems throughout the Lower Virginia Peninsula. I have been trained by the APTA and NILD to provide the visual-motor integration activities necessary to work with this impairment. One specific intervention I use is the "Handwriting Without Tears" curriculum. In addition, I will use other interventions to achieve the best outcome possible for each unique student.
