Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
One of my first students was my Autism Spectrum brother. In elementary school I would tutor him on phonics and spelling, and well as read to him and assist with homework. I grew more interested in special needs and studied Psychology, focusing on development and behavior analysis. While pursuing my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Social Work, I provided in home behavior intervention to high need ASD children. My training included Applied Behavior Analysis, as well as Positive Behavior Interventions. I enjoyed improving communication and comprehension, as well as seeing improvements in social skills. Working as a teacher's aid, I provide one-on-one assistance to struggling ASD students in sensory friendly learning environments. I have lots of patience and enthusiasm for working with children and enjoy developing individualized plans based on their interests.
