Premier Ivy League Test Prep and Math tutor

I have experience working with students in middle school, high school and college math courses at schools throughout New York, including Collegiate School, Trinity School, Columbia Prep, Hunter College High, The Heschel School, Ramaz School, Horace Mann School, Avenues: The World School, High School for Math, Science and Engineering, Loyola School, Fordham University, Columbia University, NYU, Hunter College, and Pace University. I have also worked with many students to meet their SAT and ACT... [more]

Algebra 1

I've successfully tutored Algebra 1 (and equivalent courses) for over six years. I've worked with students of all ages and capabilities: from a dyslexic student with dyscalculia - a mathematics disability, to students who are looking to achieve top scores on Algebra 1 mathematics competition tests. I've found that Algebra 1 is perhaps the most fundamentally important course in all of high school/middle school math. Without a solid foundation in Algebra 1, success in later math courses becomes far more difficult. I have perfect scores of 800 on SAT Math and SAT Math Level II.

Algebra 2

I've been tutoring Algebra 2 (and equivalent courses) successfully for over five years. I've worked with students of all ages and capabilities, and Algebra 2 is perhaps my favorite subject in math to tutor. I also have experience coaching Algebra 2 competition level mathematics. I will help you succeed in any Algebra course. I have perfect scores of 800 on SAT Math and SAT Math Level II.

Calculus

I've successfully tutored Calculus for over four years. I've worked with students of all ages and capabilities: from grad students to students in high school who are looking to achieve top scores on AP calculus exams. I've found that calculus is not nearly as difficult as most students assume it to be. Most students who struggle in calculus are not struggling because calculus is inherently difficult, but rather because of accumulated gaps in necessary prerequisite knowledge. I work hard to fill in the gaps that are necessary for success while simultaneously teaching calculus itself. On my own AP calculus BC exam in junior year of high school, I scored a 5. A few Qualifications: - 4+ years experience - Score of 800 on SAT Math and SAT Math Level II - Score of 5 on AP Calculus BC - Completed Multivariable Calculus 1 and 2 in college

Grammar

-Scored 800 on SAT Writing -Scored 5 on AP English -Successfully revised many essays -Deep understanding of the strange grammatical rules of the English Language

Geometry

I've successfully tutored Geometry for over five years, and I've worked with students of all levels. From proofs, to triangle theorems to 3D geometry, my knowledge and teaching skills will be of great help to you. I strive to make this often abstract subject seem much more manageable. A few Qualifications: - 5+ years experience - Perfect scores of 800 on SAT Math and SAT Math Level II

Prealgebra

I've successfully tutored Pre-Algebra (and equivalent courses) for over six years. I've worked with students of all ages and situations: from an autistic student, to students who are looking to achieve top scores on middle school competition tests. I've found that pre-algebra is perhaps the second most fundamentally important course in all of high school/middle school math (behind Algebra 1). Without a solid foundation in pre-algebra, success in later math courses becomes far more difficult. A few Qualifications: - 6+ years experience - Perfect scores of 800 on SAT Math and SAT Math Level II

Precalculus

I've been tutoring Pre-Calculus for four years, and my students have all seen great success. Often, my pre-calculus students struggle with their prerequisite knowledge, so I strive to fill in relevant gaps while simultaneously working through PreCalc problems. This often solves many issues my students are having. I have experience with students of all levels - from college students to young high school students looking for competition math prep. A few Qualifications: - 4+ years experience - Perfect scores of 800 on SAT Math and SAT Math Level II

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is now tested on both the ACT and SAT, so for high school students it is crucial that they have a solid foundation in trig. Additionally, knowledge of trigonometry is important for success in calculus courses. I have been working with students to enhance their understanding of trigonometry for over 5 years, and I have successfully worked with students of all levels - from high school to college. I will help this seemingly abstract subject become far more simple and manageable. A few Qualifications: - 5+ years experience - Perfect scores of 800 on SAT Math and SAT Math Level II

Statistics

I've worked with students of all levels taking courses in statistics - from Stats 1 in college to AP Statistics in high school. On my own AP statistics exam I received a score of 5. A few Qualifications: - 3+ years experience - Perfect scores of 800 on SAT Math and SAT Math Level II - 5 on AP Statistics - Completed multiple higher level college Statistics courses

SAT Reading

I have experience working on SAT prep with students of all levels and needs. SAT Reading, though notorious for it's time constraint and difficulty, can be tackled by even the slowest of readers. If a student is willing to put in the work to improve their overall reading abilities and practice new comprehension strategies, he/she will absolutely see results. An added benefit is that improving an SAT Reading score almost always means that a student's general reading skills have improved - something that is helpful for future studies and life in general! Highlights of my student's successes (overall SAT scores): -Student accepted to University of Florida Honors College - 200 Point Increase -High School Junior - from a 1450 to 1570 -Student accepted to small private college - from a 760 to 1020 -High School Junior - from 1380 (PSAT) to 1560 SAT

SAT Writing

I have experience working on SAT prep with students of all levels and needs. I've found that the writing portion of the SAT is one of the easiest sections to improve scores in quickly. It's a matter of learning standard English conventions and simple strategies. An added benefit to improving grammar skills is that a student's writing in their English classes almost always improve as well! A few of my qualifications: - 99+ Percentile SAT Score - Perfect Scores of 800 on SAT Math, SAT Writing, and SAT Math Level II - National Merit Scholar - 99+ percentile PSAT Scorer Highlights of my student's successes (overall SAT scores): -Student accepted to University of Florida Honors College - 200 Point Increase -High School Junior - from a 1450 to 1570 -Student accepted to small private college - from a 760 to 1020 -High School Junior - from 1380 (PSAT) to 1560 SAT
