With a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, I have mastered a variety of math and science subjects, and I enjoy helping others grasp those same concepts. Through teaching large college classes, tutoring one-on-one, and grading assignments, I have learned to look at problems and concepts from many different angles. This skill allows me to teach you the way you learn--whatever those learning styles may be.
Much of teaching involves answering the question, ?why??: why does one approach work, while ...

Violin

I have been playing violin for over 20 years and have a solid foundation in music theory. In my teaching, I use aspects of the Suzuki Method, such as an emphasis on listening to the pieces, as well as exercises and note-reading used in traditional instruction methods. In addition, I work to find music that will interest and inspire the violin student, whether that means a Christmas song, or a tune from a favorite Disney movie.

Mechanical Engineering

I have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and have experience teaching or tutoring statics, dynamics, and heat transfer courses as a university TA. I have a strong foundation in other mechanical engineering courses, from an introductory CAD course to thermodynamics to controls. Currently, I tutor Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Intro to Electrical Engineering / Linear Circuits, and MV Calculus.

Civil Engineering

I have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and have experience teaching, tutoring, and grading Statics and Dynamics (sometimes called Basic Mechanics I and II), courses which are fundamental to both Civil and Mechanical Engineering. I can also tutor Mechanics of Materials or advanced math courses required for Civil Engineering.
