Hi there! It's so nice to be here to help. I'm currently working as an in-home therapist for children in foster care, in a community mental health agency of Oakland. I graduated from CIIS with a master's in clinical psychology two years ago and I finished my Bachelor's degree in 2010 at Portland State with a concentration in Art History and Theater Arts. Over the past decade, I have had the pleasure of teaching theater improv to adolescents, and art-making to grade-schoolers; I was a profess... [more]
I finished my master's program in Clinical Psychology last December, and have been treating clients for two years. My main theoretical orientations are Lacanian Psychoanalysis, Depth Psychology, and Narrative Therapy, but my education allowed exposure to a multitude of modalities. I currently work with individuals, couples and families who are effected by addiction, poverty, and systemic oppression. Above all else I see psychotherapy as a form of social activism wherein clients can be helped to empower themselves and their lives. It would be my honor to tutor anyone interested in the study of the human mind, in all of its complexities.
I earned my bachelor's degree in art history at Portland State U. and abroad while studying art and architecture in Italy. My focus was on Western Modern, Contemporary, and Performance Art, but I have studied and written on subjects stretching back to the paleolithic era. I love art history because it's truly the study of economic, social, theological, geographical, and psychological history all in one. I'd be honored to assist anyone with an interest in studying human history through the art of the ages.
I was a professional college-level note taker for students with disabilities and got the opportunity to become an immaculate note-taker, which of course makes studying just that much easier. I have techniques like note-cards, imagery, and let's not forget - reward systems. I was awarded a position on the Dean's List three-years-running for outstanding GPA at PSU, and have gotten all A's in four terms of graduate school.
I was a raw and living-food vegan nutritionist, coach, caterer and personal chef for my self-started business in Portland, OR, called RawKit Food. My partner and I created vegan raw and living-food menus and spreads for events locally, designed cleanses for clients, and prepared home-meals as personal chefs. We did a lot food sustainability advocacy work in our community and food/nutrition education was implemented into all of our endeavors. I no longer prescribe only to vegan, raw, or living-food diets, but have a strong grasp on nutrition and steps you can take to get to your healthiest self.
